End Point Assessment Appeals Policy

This policy details the actions to be taken by the Apprentice, Employer, Main Provider and TRCC in the event that an appeal is made against released end point assessment results.

It details that action that TRCC will take to get satisfactory resolution relating to the appeal.

TRCC will deal with all appeals fairly and impartially in line with our Equality and Diversity Policy.  All appeals will be responded to within 28 days.

Process

In the event of an Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider lodging an appeal, they will be directed to email the TRCC Centralised Services Manager with full details of the appeal.  This should be done within 28 days of the notification of results.

Should the appeal be received 28 days after the notification of results, the appeal will be investigated at the discretion of the Head of Assessment.  The appeal process has 3 different stages:

Stage 1 – End Point Assessor (EPA) Review

The TRCC Centralised Services Manager will log the appeal and ask the (EPA) to review their end point assessment decision.  The EPA will undertake the review within 7 days of the receipt of the appeal and report their findings to the Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider.

Should the EPA agree that TRCC is at fault, the grade(s) will be amended appropriately.

A copy of the findings of the Stage 1 – EPA Review into the appeal will be logged in the individual Apprentice’s records.

Stage 2 – Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) Review

If the Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider is unhappy regarding the decision made in Stage 1, they have the right to request a further review of the appeal which will be undertaken by the IQA.

The IQA will review the appeal and prepare a report on the outcomes which will be sent to the Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider within 7 days of receipt of the Stage 2 Appeal request.

Should the IQA agree that TRCC is at fault, the grade(s) will be amended appropriately.

A copy of the findings of the Stage 2 – IQA Review into the appeal will be logged in the individual Apprentice’s records.

Stage 3 – Governing Board and Independent Reviewer

If the Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider is unhappy with the outcomes of the review by the Lead IQA, the Central Services Manager will convene a meeting of the Governing Board as soon as possible to further review the Appeal.  The Independent Appeals Reviewer will be invited to review the paperwork and provide their perspective.

The results of this review will be communicated to the Apprentice, Employer or Main Provider within 7 days of the Governing Board and Independent Appeals Reviewer meeting.

Should the Governing Board and independent Appeals agree that TRCC is at fault, the grade(s) will be amended appropriately.

A copy of the findings of the Stage 3 – Governing Board and Independent Reviewer findings will be logged in the individual Apprentice’s records.

The decision of the Governing Board and Independent Appeals Reviewer is final and the appeal will be deemed ‘closed’.

Appeals Process Fees

A £100 fee to cover administration costs will be charged for processing of the Appeal.  The Central Services Manager will raise an invoice for this charge, and this must be settled prior to release of results of the investigation into the appeal.

Should the results of the investigation, find that TRCC were at fault, this fee will be fully refunded.
